The Faces of Diplomacy exhibit was a commission project between the United States Diplomacy Center at the U.S. Department of State and the Photojournalism department at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at the George Washington University. Twelve students were selected from both the M.A. New Media Photojournalism and B.A. Photojournalism programs to create environmental portraits and short video profiles about U.S. Diplomats living and working abroad in Morocco and Spain. The six portraits and videos created will be part of a permanent exhibit at the U.S.D.C. Museum opening in 2018, as well on a touring basis.

My subject was Shelby Smith-Wilson, the Political Counselor to U.S. Embassy Madrid.

Photographs taken in Retiro Park, Madrid, Spain.

Special thanks in this project to the Smith-Wilson family, the U.S. Diplomacy Center, Muriel Hasbun, Benjamin Tankersley and Ben Dorger.
